On Tolkien ja melkein kesä

Olemme Alberton kanssa kovin innostuneita J.R.R. Tolkienin tuotannosta, ja siksipä katsastimme myös fanivoimin tehdyt elokuvat The Hunt for Gollum ja Born of Hope, jotka ovat katsottavissa Internetissä elokuvien omilla sivuilla.

The Hunt for Gollum kertoo siitä, kuinka Aragorn jahtaa Klonkkua saadakseen tietää, onko sormus, jota Klonkku aikoinaan piti hallussaan, Sauronin himoitsema suursormus.



Born of Hope kertoo puolestaan Aragornin vanhemmista ja siitä, millainen oli Aragornin varhaislapsuus. Siinä olikin örkkejä kerrakseen, joten elokuva oli melkoisen pelottava.



Molemmat elokuvat ovat todellakin katsomisen arvoisia. Ne näyttävät todella hienoilta ja kertovat tarinat, jotka eivät ehkä ole kaikille ennestään yhtä tuttuja kuin Tarun sormusten herrasta tarina.

Elokuvien lisäksi Alberto hemmotteli minua savuporopiirakalla. Vanha harmaapäänalle muoreineen toi meille Lapista savuporoa, ja Alberto katsoi sen soveltuvan mainiosti suolaisen piirakan ainekseksi. Muita aineksia piirakassa olivat salaattijuusto sekä parsakaali. Niille, jotka haluavat kokeilla samanlaista herkkua, voi vihjata, että piirakan ohje löytyy Alberton ruokablogista.



Kesä on saapunut, joten teimme pienen kurkistuksen metsään. Aurinko paistoi komeasti, ja ainoastaan muutama hyttynen yritti kiusata meitä.



Kukkia ei ollut ilmaantunut vielä kovin paljoa, mutta näimme sentään lukemattomia ketunleipiä.



Täytyy tarkkailla tilannetta. Kaipa ne orvokit ja muutkin kukat pian ilmestyvät.

Tolkien and almost Summer

Both me and Alberto are avid fans of J.R.R. Tolkien and therefore we were anxious to see the two recent fan-made films, The Hunt for Gollum and Born of Hope, that are based on his stories. Both movies can be watched on their respective home pages.

The Hunt for Gollum is the story of Aragorn’s quest to capture the creature Gollum for finding out if the ring treasured by Gollum is Sauron’s Ring of Power. Born of Hope, on the other hand, tells the earlier story of Aragorn’s parents and his childhood. There were a lot of hideous orcs in this movie, which makes it a bit scary. Both movies are really worth checking out, as they are very well made, look just fabulous and tell stories less-known for many Lord of the Rings fans.

In addition to these movies, Alberto treated me with cold-smoked reindeer pie. The reindeer meat we got from the Old Grey Bear and his missus, who brought it for us all the way from Lapland. Those who are interested in the recipe can find it from Alberto’s blog.

The summer is more or less here, so we couldn’t resist a short walk in the nearby wood. The sun was shining gloriously between the trees and while there are still not that many flowers, we were still able to find some wood-sorrels. I am sure it doesn’t take long for the other flowers to appear as well.
