Fanielokuvaa tekemässä - osa 3: Kuvaus

Vihdoin ensimmäinen kuvauspäivä koitti. Alberto oli koko edellisen viikon puhdistanut linssejä, ladannut filmikeloja ja rasvannut kameroiden ja kelanauhurin koneistoja. Lavasteet oli pystytetty ullakolle torstai-iltana, ja minä käytin perjantaiaamun pukujen pesemiseen ja silittämiseen samaan aikaan kun Goot ja Ti viimeistelivät kuvauspaikkaa asettelemalla rekvisiittaa paikalleen.

Koska kuvatessa tulee helposti nälkä, värväsimme vielä Victorian äidin Ingrid Björnhufvudin huolehtimaan ruuasta ja tarjoilusta.
- Ajattelin tarjota täytettyjä sämpylöitä ja patonkeja, selitti Ingrid pyyhkäistessään keittiön ovesta sisään. - Myös hedelmiä ja muuta pientä purtavaa pitää olla tarjolla ja juomaksi mehua. Eihän kenelläkään ole allergioita?
- Ei minun tietääkseni, vastasin ja olin hiljaa mielessäni iloinen siitä, että saimme jättää muonituksen Ingridin kyvykkäisiin tassuihin.
- Meidän äiti tekee parhaat eväät, totesi Victoriakin.



Kuvaukset aloitettiin heti kun Alberto oli kiiruhtanut töistä kotiin. Kuvaustilanteessa jokaisella oli oma tehtävänsä ja työskentely oli hyvin kurinalaista. Koska Victoria, Freija ja Alberto joutuivat esiintymään kameran edessä, minun tehtäväkseni jäi toimia tuottaja-ohjaajana ja pitää kaikki langat tassuissani koko kuvauksen ajan. Alberto hoiti kuvaamisen niissä kohtauksissa, joissa hän ei itse näytellyt, ja minun huolekseni jäi toimia kamerakarhuna Alberton ohjeiden mukaan jäljelle jäävissä kohtauksissa. Goot ja Ti huolehtivat maskeerauksesta, Magnus Björnhufvud valaistuksesta ja luonamme asuva pieni pupu äänityksestä.



Kuvausviikonlopun aikataulu oli kireä, mutta saimme kaiken valmiiksi sunnuntai-iltaan mennessä. Kuvatessamme viimeistä kohtausta, jossa prinsessat kohtaavat Draculan, Victoria päätti huvittaa meitä laskemalla hieman leikkiä Alberton kustannuksella:
- Katso, se on Kreivi Dracula, replikoi Victoria käsikirjoituksen mukaan.
- Oi voi sentään, vastasi Freija.
- Minä en koskaan juo… viiniä, lausui Alberto tuon Draculan repliikeistä ehkä kuuluisimman.
- Mutta Alberto-setä, eihän se pidä paikkaansa! hihitti Victoria, saaden koko kuvausryhmän repeämään hersyvään nauruun. Kohtauksesta jouduttiin ottamaan useita ottoja ennen kuin kaikki saivat pidettyä kuononsa taas peruslukemilla.

Making a movie, part 3 – Principal Photography

Finally we were able to start shooting. Alberto had spent the beginning of the week by cleaning up the lenses, loading up the film and oiling the moving parts in his cameras and reel-to-reel recorder. Building the set was completed on our attic on Thursday evening and I spent the Friday morning by washing and ironing the costumes while Goth and Tic were decorating the set.

As one also gets hungry while working on the set, we invited Victoria’s mother, Ingrid Björnhufvud, to take care of the catering.
- I think I will serve stuffed rolls and baguettes, she explained when she blew into our kitchen. – There will be also some fruits and snacks available and lots of juice. Does anyone have any allergies?
- Not that I know of, I answered and was happy that we could leave the catering matters into the capable paws of Ingrid.

We started shooting immediately when Alberto had come back home from work. Working on the set was disciplined and everybody had a task of his or her own. As Victoria, Freya and Alberto had to perform for the camera, it fell on me to keep all strings in my paws during the shoot and assume the responsibilities of a producer and a director. Alberto worked as director of photography on those scenes where he didn't act himself and I took care of the photography when he did. Goth and Tic were responsible for the make-up, Magnus Björnhufvud for lightning and our little rabbit friend for the sound recording.

The hectic schedule prevailed the whole weekend but we still managed to get everything in the can by the Sunday evening. As we were shooting the final scene, Victoria decided to play a joke on Alberto:
- Look, it’s Count Dracula! Victoria said.
- Oh dear, replied Freya.
- I never drink… wine, Alberto delivered probably the most famous line of Dracula.
- But Uncle Alberto, that’s not true! chuckled Victoria, making the whole crew to laugh hysterically. We had to take several takes before everyone was able to keep their snouts straight through the whole scene again.
