Kuninkaallista häähumua jälleen

Victoria ja Freija ovat aina ajantasalla siitä, mitä Euroopan kuningashuoneissa tapahtuu. Niinpä he ilmestyivät ovellemme lauantaiaamuna prinsessakakun ja Ruotsin-lippujen kanssa kruunut päissään.
- Tänään katsotaan Madeleinen ja Chrisin häitä, Victoria totesi pontevasti ja marssi olohuoneeseen.

En viitsinyt mainita, että häälähetyksen alkuun oli aikaa vielä tuntitolkulla. Tytöt olivat kuitenkin ilmeisesti itsekin selvillä asiasta, sillä he leikkivät sujuvasti Viivin kanssa prinsessaleikkejä siihen asti, kun ohjelma vihdoin alkoi televisiossa. Silloin minäkin liityin tyttöjen seuraan heiluttamaan naapurimaamme lippua. Ja kuinka ollakaan - juuri ennen h-hetkeä ovelle ilmestyivät myös Ingrid ja Magnus Björnhufvud.



Hääseremonia oli oikein romanttinen, sillä sulhanen oli paitsi onnellisen myös hermostuneen oloinen ja morsiankin oli kovin rakastuneen näköinen kauniissa morsiusasussaan. Ihmettelin, miksi häälähetys ei lainkaan kiinnostanut Albertoa ja Magnus Björnhufvudia. Ingrid oli ihastellut hääparia minun ja lasten kanssa, mutta Magnus oli oitis pujahtanut keittiöön Alberton seuraksi.
- Mitä te oikein siellä puuhaatte? minä huusin Albertolle, kun hääväki oli keskittynyt virrenveisuuseen.
- Yritämme Magnuksen kanssa löytää juhlaillalliselle sopivaa viiniä, kuului Alberton vastaus suljetun oven takaa.



Kun häälähetys loppui, meitä todellakin odotti hääjuhlaan sopiva ateria.
- Olen valmistanut tämän ranskalaiseen tyyliin, Alberto selitti, sillä eikös Bernadotte-suvulla ole juurensa Ranskassa.
En olisi ikinä uskonut Alberton olevan noin perillä kuningashuoneiden sukupuista, mutta oli pakko myöntää, että hän oli oikeassa.

Aloitimme aterian etanoilla.



Pääruuaksi oli tarjolla ankanrintaa, jonka Alberto oli itse maustanut ja paistanut juuri sopivan kypsäksi. Ankan kanssa oli punaviinikastiketta, pariisinperunoita sekä ruusukaalia.



Jälkiruuaksi Alberto oli varannut suussasulavia juustoja.



Ja aivan viimeiseksi maistoimme tietenkin Victorian ja Freijan tuomaa herkullista prinsessakakkua. Mikään ei voisi olla sen oikeampi tapa juhlistaa ruotsalaisen prinsessan häitä!

Yet another royal wedding

Victoria and Freya are always well aware of romantic happening among the European royal families. So it was no surprise to see them on our door on the Saturday morning wearing tiaras and carrying a cake and a few Swedish flags.
- We came to watch Madelaine’s wedding from the telly with Vivian, Victoria declared while marching to our living room.

I didn’t bother to mention that it was still hours until the wedding broadcast would start but it seemed that the girls were well aware of that anyway, as they settled down for some princess plays with Vivian. When the much anticipated hour finally arrived, I joined them in front of the TV. Victoria’s parents, Ingrid and Magnus Björnhufvud, arrived also soon after.

The wedding ceremony was very romantic, the groom was happy and nervous and the bride appeared so much in love in her beautiful dress. The only thing I wondered was why Alberto and Magnus were not interested in the wedding – they had disappeared into the kitchen immediately when the TV broadcast had started.
- What are you doing there? I shouted to them when the wedding congregation started the hymn.
- Oh, we’re just trying to find a suitable wine for the celebration dinner, I heard Alberto’s answer through the closed door.

Once the wedding ceremony broadcast was over, it was time for the dinner Alberto had prepared to celebrate the occasion.
- I decided to serve something in French style as the House of Bernadotte has its origins in France, he explained.
Well, what can one say to that?

We started with the snails in garlic as the hors d'oeuvre. For the main course, we had some duck breast with pommes noisettes, Brussels sprout and red wine sauce. The dinner was crowned with a selection of cheese and some cake with coffee. After that we all agreed that this was the best way to celebrate the wedding of a Swedish princess.
